A Birthday for Dynamic Aging 4 Life Magazine

This edition of the Magazine marks two years of publishing compelling stories about people doing extraordinary things, overcoming daunting challenges or just sharing what a fully lived life looks like as we all choose to dynamically age.

When Joan, Willis, Sylvia and I sat at our Zoom screens over two years ago and made the decision to launch this magazine, we had no idea how many of you would be willing to participate in this community by reading, sharing and commenting.

Birthdays and anniversaries are often a time for reflection about the past and thoughts for the future. No different here at Dynamic Aging 4 Life Magazine world headquarters. We have published an amazing panoply of tales. Today we want to celebrate first by thanking all the authors for their work. We also want to thank readers, many of whom send us notes commenting on the magazine. Readers also often contact the authors, too. By doing so, they are helping to create a dynamic aging community – one of the goals we set out to do at the beginning.

That’s the past.

The future?

We will continue to publish dynamic-aging story contributions and also keep asking for readers to consider telling their stories. As noted in past Editors Notebooks, we believe everyone has a story to tell. And those stories often provide inspiration, solid advice and are helping to build a valuable network.

This birthday issue is also a time for us to ask readers to reflect on what they might see as positive additions to the magazine. No, I won’t draw cartoons, though it sounds like fun. But one idea is the creation of a reader forum for discussions. Not about politics, but social and cultural issues, like one I just tripped across called Gramnesia.

Gramnesia is an idea raging on social media that grandparents have forgotten how hard raising young children is. Readers who have dealt with this in their own extended families might be able to offer helpful advice. Or have a good laugh about it.

Thank you all for sticking with Dynamic Aging 4 Life Magazine for these two years. It’s exhausting at times, but always fun, always interesting and always fulfilling.

And keep reading. There’s more to come.
