Once Your Story Proposal is Accepted
Once your story proposal is accepted, please adhere to the following submission guidelines:
- 1,000 words max (400-800 is ideal). BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR AGE!
- Write the title in bold and underneath state your by-line: “by [your name].”
- Use Times New Roman and 12 or 14 point font size.
- Spell check and grammar check your work.
- Submit as a .doc or .docx to [email protected]. Please include “SUBMISSION FOR DAM” in the subject line.
- Put a space between paragraphs… no indents please.
- You will receive a confirmation of receipt within 24 hours.
- Please allow up to two weeks for it to be read and returned to you with any editing comments.
- Once your article is edited and submitted for FINAL SUBMISSION, you will receive notice of the tentative publication date.
- Write a brief bio (approximately 50 words) and, if you’d like, include your photo, website URL and/or email address for readers to contact you.
- We will not publish your email unless it is in the bio.
- Include all your contact info – name, address, email, phone number – notwithstanding the note in the section above about your bio, your contact info is for the editors only and will not be shared.
PHOTOS
Submit photos in the .jpg format.
ALL Photos should be at least 1000×1000 pixels and no larger than 2400×2400.
Submit a “Featured Photo or Graphic” with your story. It will be displayed at the top of the story on our home page. Make sure it is compelling along with your title, to draw people in to click on and read your story. Please provide the caption.
Please verify that any photos sent are yours to use and publish or that you have permission to use and publish them. They must be your photos, free from copyright infringement issues.
When your article is published, let the world know.
